In 2018, Google launched an AR function for its Arts & Culture application that converts handsets into a small museum devoted to Vermeer paintings. Now, the tech behemoth has launched out a new series for the app’s “Pocket Gallery.” But this time the firm is aiming at colors as a theme. The new series comprises paintings from different artists, comprising Rembrandt, grouped as per their color palettes.
After selecting the functionality, pointing your handset at a flat surface after navigating to the camera tab, you will be capable of entering the virtual gallery, which has 4 tabs to explore. The experience, dubbed as “The Art of Color,” displays arts from 33 associate institutions all over 4 continents. You can click on every art to zoom in and learn more info about that specific painting.
Google employed the Art Palette tool of the Arts & Culture platform to choose the arts to display. The final series comprises Rembrandt’s masterpiece The Night Watch and Whistler’s Mother under the White, Black, and Grey color scheme. The new Pocket Gallery series is accessible for both Android and iOS, though it is only noticeably available to AR-based devices.
On a related note, earlier to mark 90th birthday of Anne Frank, Google allowed users to step within the childhood house of the diarist. A virtual display in the Arts & Culture website and app takes you in Amsterdam within Merwedeplein 37-2. You can also see the space via an indoor variant of Street View. All the 1930s-based rooms of the house, which is now a provisional work and home space for refugee writers that is closed to the people, are viewable.
Google operated with the non-profit (Anne Frank House) on the project, which comprises the only video known to be present of Frank.
