Google Is Making It Simpler To Snap Accurate Portraits On Chromebooks

For all the people out there who love snapping pics using their tablets, the latest Chrome OS update by Google is a huge one. Apart from including support for virtual desktops and centralized music controls, Chrome OS 76 includes a new portrait mode to the camera app of the platform, the firm claimed this week.

At launch, portrait mode is exclusively accessible on the firm’s Pixel Slate, although Google claims it aims to bring the functionality to other devices in the future. Keeping the usual reactions users have to photography by tablet aside, the fact Google aims to include a portrait mode to other devices is something of a news to mull over. Unlike the Pixel Slate, most devices sport low-resolution cameras. As such, they will not be capable of take meaningful benefit of the feature. And then there is the fact that Google does not aim to make tablets anymore. In different words, it does not appear like there is much of any audience on Chrome OS for a portrait mode.

Getting back to the update, the firm has also changed the interface of camera app to alter how consumers switch between the various camera modes on their tablets. This latter improvement is accessible on all Chrome OS machines, not just the Pixel Slate. The upgrade also includes a new “Clear all” option to the notification bar to make it simpler to handle Play Store prompts.

On a related note, Google last week launched the newest variant of Duo, which follows with the capability of permanently deleting history for audio and video. And based on media’s teardown, it also arrives with code suggesting at a set of forthcoming features, comprising a dark mode and a low light mode. The former might offer the contacts list and search interface of the app a dark-based design, available by a new “Choose them” button in settings.
